QuiltCon – Award Winning Quilts Part 1

All I can say is wow! QuiltCon is as awesome as I thought it would be and more. The quilts, the friendly atmosphere, the lectures, classes and more are a dream come true. The show was so well organized that you could tell immediately which quilts were competing in each category. The ribbons are the cutest and most creative I’ve ever seen!

You can see pictures the rest of the quilts in Part 2 and Part 3.

So here they are – the best modern quilts. I tried to get pictures of all the ribbon winners so it will take me a couple of days to post them all. Enjoy the show! (See part 2 here.)

Hi Christa, thank you so much for posting the quilts! I wish I could have met you there.

I just wanted to clarify something on my bee quilt (Off the B.O.W.). It was compiled by me, but made in a group called Bee Liberated that celebrated quilt designs by Gwen Marston. It wasn’t from the Anchorage Guild. If you wouldn’t mind making that change, I’d appreciate it! I’d love for the bee members to get the credit. 🙂

    Christa,
Would it be okay to show your photos as a slide show at a guild meeting? Hands Across the Valley Quilt Guild has a program planned in June focussed on the Modern Quilt movement.
    Thanks,

      Hi Linda,

Yes, you can share my pictures as long as you give credit to me for the photography 🙂 You can mention my store ChristaQuilts.com or link to my blog ChristaQuilts.wordpress.com. Thanks!

Thank you for posting the pictures. I would have loved to go as a member of the South Florida Modern Quilt guild. It was nice to be able to see all of the modern talent!

Thank you thank you! For posting the pics! I read the winners post on MQG but so glad to see the pics since I couldn’t go! Amazing work! Congrats to all the winners!!

Angela, some of them were a little tricky to find and I didn’t see all of the ribbons right away, so I walked the aisles a couple of times to be thorough. Even so, there’s one I missed that I will have to go back and take a picture of. 🙂 The names of all the winners are posted on the MGQ blog so that was helpful.

Hi there! Thank you so much for posting all of these wonderful pictures!
Would you mind me borrowing your photo of Double Edged Love to post to my Facebook page? I’ve gotten several requests from people wanting to see closer shots so that they can see my quilting.
Unfortunately I lost all of my pictures of EVERY quilt I have quilted when my phone and computer both crashed on the same day. So I have none to share! And I couldn’t make it to QuiltCon. 😦
Anyway, let me know, and I hope you’re having a blast!

    • Christa says:

Absolutely Lisa! Your work is amazing! I am so sorry to hear that you lost your pictures. That must have been devastating. You can use the picture I have on this post and then I will take more pictures tomorrow at the show and email them to you personally.

    • Christa says:

Thanks Evelyn! While my quilt didn’t win a ribbon (I didn’t expect it to – I was just thrilled to see it hang), everyone who had a quilt in the show got a cute participation button that looked like a mini version of the ribbons – so that was pretty cool, too!
